"AI-Powered Mineral Resource Development"2026 International Summer School - Call for Applications

In the background of global technological revolution and industrial transformation, artificial intelligence is profoundly reshaping the mineral resource exploration and development. To broaden international perspectives in earth science research, enhance interdisciplinary innovation and collaboration, and cultivate mineral exploration talents with AI literacy, we will hold the "AI-powered Mineral Resource Development" International Summer School from July 13 to 26, 2026.

Focusing on cutting-edge fields such as geoscience big data and intelligent prospecting, this program will provide a high-level learning and exchange platform for outstanding international graduate students and senior undergraduates through academic lectures, field trips, short courses, and in-depth discussions, aiming to promote global frontier research in mineral resources.

Target Participants

The International Summer School is open to international graduate students and senior undergraduates (currently enrolled outside the Chinese Mainland) in disciplines related to geology, geophysics, resource exploration engineering, mineral exploration, and geological engineering.

To ensure teaching quality, we plan to enroll approximately 15 participants, with the final number adjusted appropriately based on applications and selection.

 

Program Schedule

The International Summer School will include four modules: academic lectures, field trips, short courses, and group discussions, combining indoor teaching with hands-on practice.

Other Information

  1. Fees: No registration fee is charged. Expenses related to accommodation, meals, local transportation for field trips, and insurance during the program will be covered by the program. Participants are responsible for their own round-trip airfare to Zhuhai and any personal expenses beyond the program's arrangements.
  2. Admission Notice: The selected participants will be notified by email in late June 2026, and the list will also be posted on  https://gs.sysu.edu.cn.
  3. Participants must abide by the discipline and regulations of Sun Yat-sen University, China during the summer school.
  4. A certificate will be issued by the School of Earth Sciences and Engineering, Sun Yat-sen University at the end of the program.
